A young whale with significant trauma from boat propeller strikes was spotted in shallow water off the west side of Holgate last Friday, Oct. 17, and unfortunately passed away, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center reported. On Tuesday, Oct. 21, MMSC said it was working with multiple partners to tow the whale to an inland location for a necropsy and final disposal.
