Veronica Lentz spends a lot of time on top of the ocean, mostly surfing.

“When I’m not here, I surf in California all year long, so I’m blessed,” said Lentz, moments after easily winning the Women’s Paddle event of the Barnegat Light Beach Patrol Young Gunz tournament. “I’m at Chapman University in Orange, Calif., so I have an endless summer. It’s 75 degrees there in February and I get to surf. It’s awesome.”
