On a recent Saturday afternoon, the Essex Avenue beach in Beach Haven was alive with laughter, cheers and crashing waves as the beach patrol held its fourth annual “The Flash Memorial Boogie Boarding Contest.”
What began as a tribute to a local legend known simply as “The Flash” has now grown into one of the most anticipated summer events for young beachgoers in Beach Haven, said beach patrol chief Meghan Marro Skelly.
