On what was an unseasonably warm afternoon, the Southern Regional field hockey players on Nov. 21 enjoyed every moment passing around the wooden-based trophy with a golden bowl affixed to it. Some took small-group photos with it, even mocked kissing it, a la the Stanley Cup after the NHL finals.

The best part: Nobody cared that it wasn’t the same piece of hardware the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association typically gives away to a team that wins a state sectional final.
