To the Editor:
I write in response to a letter titled “Biden Report Card” (3/2) by Howard Buerkle.
Mr. Buerkle criticizes the child tax credit without mentioning that it lifted 3 million children out of poverty. Contrary to Mr. Buerkle’s assertion that the credit induced parents to stay out of the workforce, a study led by Washington University showed that the credit actually helped parents continue working. It also helped the most vulnerable children of parents with complex barriers to employment.
