To the Editor:

As the holiday season approaches, I am reminded of how important it is for families and friends to slow down, spend time together, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Over the past several years, my family has enjoyed attending “Celebrate the Season” at the Long Beach Island Historical Museum in Beach Haven. Each year has brought opportunities to participate in fun, meaningful activities that celebrate different cultures, encourage creativity, and bring people of all ages together. Some of our happiest moments have come from simply enjoying these experiences with one another and making memories with our children and grandchildren.

In today’s busy world, we often find ourselves surrounded by cellphones, computers and iPads. This special event offers something increasingly rare: a day to put those distractions aside, engage in hands-on activities, share laughter, and truly enjoy the company of the people around us.

“Celebrating the Season” is more than a holiday event. It is a joyful community gathering that reminds us of the true spirit of the holidays – connection, generosity, tradition and togetherness. It brings families, friends and neighbors together while celebrating the many cultures that enrich our community.

I am grateful that the Long Beach Island Historical Museum continues to offer this wonderful event, and I am already looking forward to attending again this year with my grandchildren. I hope other families will join us in making memories that will be treasured long after the holiday decorations are put away.

After all, the greatest gifts we can give one another are our time, our attention and the memories we create together.
