Winning the Island Lifeguard Tournament mile and doubles rows and then the Barnegat Bay Challenge was their version of the Triple Crown, and Mark Dileo and Dave Bonanni were so intent on capturing it, they had been training since May.
“We trained in all conditions and put a lot of time in the boat together,” said Bonanni after he and Dileo cruised to the Barnegat Bay Challenge’s Van Duyne surfboat title on Aug. 21.
