In a workshop off the garage of his house near the beach in Surf City, Lance Lichtensteiger uses a band saw to cut the pieces of wood he will then chisel and sand into intricate depictions of wildlife of all species and sizes.

Lichtensteiger has designed and carved wildlife for 40 years, with his daughter Wendy joining him in 2000. Their work has been purchased by famous names, restuarants and companies, and sit in more than 30 galleries and specialty shops throughout the U.S.
