To the Editor:

I just read your Jan. 20 article about the use of horseshoe crab blood in the important research and work on COVID-19 vaccines, and the related problem for the mortality of the crabs themselves.

It struck a chord in my husband and me for several reasons. I have always been fascinated by horseshoe crabs and their amazing lives and longevity as a species. They’ve apparently been around for thousands of years and look it.
