Step aside, COVID. The Dog Day Race is back in action this year.
The High Point Volunteer Fire Co.’s annual 5-mile race through Harvey Cedars was last contested in 2019, when Tom Hogarty edged Jake Shoemaker for the overall individual title with a time of just under 26 minutes. This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 21.
The 43rd edition of the race is slated for its standard 9:30 a.m. start right outside the doors of the fire company’s five-bay building on West 80th Street.
