The Greenhouse Café in Ship Bottom, closing on Dec. 18, will re-open in the spring as Rare Company, the name being a nod to its new life as a steakhouse in addition to seafood.

The Michel family took over The Greenhouse in 2020, knowing they had big shoes to fill, they said. Two seasons of ownership, especially during challenging times of pandemic and supply issues, told them their own brand of specialization is the key from here.

The restaurant’s beef and seafood will be locally sourced from associations with local suppliers.
