Great weather and even better competition graced the 30th year of the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol Mayor’s Cup lifeguard tournament, held in August and won by the team from Spray Beach.
“We had magic LBI that weekend,” township Beach Supervisor Don Myers said of the annual two-day contest that pits the guards from the patrol’s squads – Brant Beach, Beach Haven Crest, Holgate, North Beach/Loveladies and Spray Beach – in a friendly but intense battle for bragging rights.
