Spirit Airlines is in serious trouble, and that in turn could cause trouble for the Atlantic City International Airport and put a crimp in local travel to Florida, especially during the winter.
In April it announced Spirit was closing its crew base, where pilots and flight attendants start and end their work days, at the Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) effective Sept. 1. The closing will affect some 157 Spirit crew members, something that had Congressman Jeff Van Drew concerned.
