Softball is a team sport; nine players on each side battle with intensity and determination every game. But within each team there is a leader – a tone setter – who rallies the teammates around her to be their best with every throw, on every ground ball or swing. Amanda McClellan, third baseman for Southern Regional Middle School’s team, the Stafford Stingrays, as well asthe Waretown Thunder, is such a leader.

“She leads by example,” said her Stingrays coach, Joe D’Amodio.
