Blisters on her heels certainly aren’t fun, but somehow they bring out the best in Gemma Bongiorni.
“At the Group 4 indoor championships, I had this horrible blister on my left foot,” said the Southern Regional senior. “It hurt so bad, but I still split 60 seconds for the 4×400-meter relay. Mind you, my PR was 63 seconds, so I had a great split and helped the team move on to the Meet of Champs.”
She peeled back the sock on her right heel, revealing a huge piece of white medical tape.
