To say the Southern Regional High School girls volleyball team got off to a slow start this year would be an understatement. When The SandPaper first reported on the team in mid-September, the girls were 1-3. By the end of that month they were sporting an 8-6 record – respectable, yes, but not Southern-like.
October, however, was good to coach Eric Maxwell’s squad. By the 7th, the squad was 12-6 and had finally cracked the Star-Ledger Top 20 list, if only at the 20th spot.
