To the Editor:

I would like to commemorate once again the poem written 40 years ago by my late wife, celebrating the great beach here in Ship Bottom at this time of year.

I went alone to the beach today,
Sand stretched white and vast.
The summer throngs had seen their day;
Nature reigned at last.
