To the Editor:
I am a lifelong local of Surf City and the surrounding area, so I am compelled to correct claims made in recent letters supporting the current leadership in Surf City which have misidentified our property tax rate as “the lowest on the Island.” According to 2022 Ocean County statistics, tax rates are, from lowest to highest: Barnegat Light (2.41), Long Beach Township (2.47), Harvey Cedars (2.82), Surf City (2.84), Ship Bottom (3.00) and Beach Haven (3.17).
Let’s examine what services we are getting in Surf City for the third highest tax rate on the Island.
