To the Editor:

I’m writing in response to a commentary I read in the Jan. 13 edition about offshore wind turbines (“Offshore Wind Turbines Must Be Made Less Visible or Else”). I sail with the Merchant Marine so it’s often weeks before I read a paper copy of The SandPaper.

After reading the commentary, I had to break out chart 12300, “Approaches to NY.” The buoy marking the beginning of the traffic separation zone for large ships approaching New York is about 15.5 miles off the coast of Barnegat Light.
