To the Editor:
The Barnegat Light Lifeguard in Training (LIT) program has a long history of providing education (beach safety, ocean tides) and character development to young teens aspiring to enjoy summers at the beach and also participate in team-building activities. Many of our neighbors and local friends are “graduates” of the LIT program and expressed gratitude for the opportunities that the LIT program presented. Many of them remain close friends to this day.
Last summer, our 12-year-old grandson participated in the Barnegat Light LIT program under the leadership of John Ross.
