Before the new ShopRite inside the Manahawkin Commons shopping plaza on Route 72 opened its doors on Feb. 4, Richard Saker stood among a group of corporate associates and local government officials in 27-degree cold just as the sun was rising behind the cloud cover on the eastern horizon.
The ceremonial ribbon had to be snipped, after all, and it was his honor.
