Pedestrian traffic on Circle Drive, the narrow single-lane road on Cedar Bonnet Island that runs under the Causeway, is slated to permanently close due to safety concerns.

“There is not enough room to safely accommodate both vehicles and pedestrians,” said Stephen Schapiro, a spokesman for the N.J. Department of Transportation. “Redirecting pedestrians to use the new sidewalk is a much better alternative than Circle Drive.”
