Jay Mann wrote about a meteotsunami striking Barnegat Inlet’s new South Jetty in The SandPaper’s Fish Story column June 19. I had never heard of these rogue waves created by the effects of sudden low-pressure weather patterns on the ocean. It got me wondering if what happened to me in 1984 could have been one of the same. I don’t know. But the wave that careened into my boat was four times as large and many more times stronger than all the others swelling in the inlet mouth recently.
