To the Editor:

This is a response to Harold Ciser’s “End the Nonsense.” He stated, “When I see statues torn down … that reflected our American history …” Is he referring to our history of slavery, racism and intimidation? These statues represent the worst of us and need to be removed.

In response to a Black athlete protesting, he asked, “Isn’t it time to put an end to all this nonsense and follow our values and traditions?” Protesting is our greatest American value and tradition. Nothing else fixes wrongs.
