Regarding your article (“Property Values, Costs Create Perfect Storm for Taxpayers,” 9/30), I would like to compare the recent property tax changes affecting homeowners in Beach Haven West with what happened in California in 1978.
In the late 1970s, California property values were rising extremely rapidly. Speculators were buying homes and flipping them within months for substantial profits. As property values increased, property taxes also rose dramatically.
