Over the last couple of weeks, this column has followed the search for treasure on Long Beach Island, from finding coins on the beach to a mysterious tale of digging up a pirate treasure and vanishing in a small boat. This question remains: Can any treasure find be documented?
In his 1980 book Down Barnegat Bay, Robert Jahn wrote, “Another legend holds that Captain Kidd romanced a Barnegat girl by the name of Amanda, and buried a treasure chest near Oyster Creek, NJ.
