To the Editor:

On Monday, Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. I spotted a baby seagull in my backyard that seemed in distress. This bird wouldn’t fly and also had bands on its legs to show it was being tracked by state wildlife personnel.

I contacted Surf City police and Sgt. Roe was dispatched. Upon arrival the bird had moved to my front yard. Sgt. Roe then put on gloves, approached the bird and quickly captured it without incident.
