To the Editor:
It was encouraging to attend the No Kings rally in Manahawkin on Saturday and receive such positive support from so many passersby. Those in our group shared positive messages: a “Defend the Constitution” flag and signs that read “ENOUGH – vote Democratic,” “Save Social Security” and “This is not a Right or Left moment, It’s a Right or Wrong Moment.”
Aside from the few hecklers who either gave us the finger or yelled something incoherent as they sped by – one woman yelled “communists” – it was a fulfilling few hours to stand up for our democracy, while we pray we won’t lose it to Trump and his GOP sycophants. I urge voters to get the facts and vote blue to protect the Constitution and your own self-interests, and end Trump’s goal of making the U.S. a fascist government with him as our dictator.
