The Beach Haven Public Library presents “Pirates and the Ghosts of New Jersey” on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m.
The guest speaker is author Tony DiGerolamo, who said the talk would focus on pirates and privateers during the American Revolution and the early 19th century. Privateers were privately owned armed vessels commissioned by a government during time of war to attack enemy ships, usually vessels of commerce.
He said material for the talk will come from his book series, “The Pineys.” Pirates are covered in volume 14 of the 21 books in the collection.
DiGerolamo has a long resume in his career as an author, comic book writer and screenwriter. He began his comics career in 1996 with the publication of his first comic book, Jersey Devil, based on the Jersey Devil legend and several articles written in the South Jersey Courier-Post.
