On Sunday, Aug. 10, the Nelson Avenue park in Beach Haven was the scene of an LBI Pickleball Friends fundraiser benefiting the Compassion Café.
The café is a seasonal business devoted to giving work opportunities to adolescents and adults with special needs. Established five years ago, the café is in its fourth summer at the Sea Shell Resort and Beach Club in Beach Haven. It’s open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.; its last day for the season will be Sept. 11.
