Threats to schools are nothing new.
A few weeks before my graduation from Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, Vt., in 1972 the school suffered from a series of bomb threats.
When the first one was called in the school was quickly closed and the students bused home while police searched the building. The next day another threat was received, but this time students weren’t sent home but were made to evacuate to the soccer field for two hours as the building was again searched.
