Last April, Barnegat Light’s Bob Selfridge attended the Big Wave Risk Assessment Group’s first-ever East Coast event on the Outer Banks. It was a three-day summit open to anyone to refine safety knowledge, rescue and life-saving medical interventions with classroom and in-water training.

He found the course incredibly helpful to his own skills, though ironically, he is probably the last person on Long Beach Island who needs more training in this field.
