To the Editor:

Every working American knows it is now tax time. We are all looking at whether we will pay taxes to the federal and New Jersey state governments or will we receive refunds. However, at the federal level there are now two new deductions many people can use that will bring more money back into their pockets and not into the government’s.

These include exempting taxes on tips as well as overtime. Under legislation passed at the federal level, taxes on tips and overtime can be deducted.
