My family was staying with my grandparents in Harvey Cedars one fine summer day in 1973 when my friends and I gathered our money and rode our bikes to the Ship’s Wheel to indulge in penny candy and toys. Going to The Ship’s Wheel was a pilgrimage we would make whenever we found some coin. For a kid, it was a magical place filled with candy, ice cream, toys, art supplies and comic books.
