There will be a “No Kings” rally from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Manahawkin Lake Park at 86 North Main St. in Stafford Township.
The main reason for the rally is to spread the word about early voting and vote-by-mail opportunities in this year’s general election.
Early voting in Ocean County will run from Saturday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 1. The hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. There will be 10 early voting centers spread across the county.
Two are in Southern Ocean County. There’s one in Stafford Township at the Ocean County Southern Resource Center, 179 South Main St., Manahawkin. The other is at the Little Egg Harbor branch of the Ocean County Library, located at 290 Mathistown Rd.
As for vote-by-mail, such ballots have already been mailed out to voters who requested them. But one can still be obtained because the deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is Oct. 27. Visit the Ocean County Clerk’s Office website to download an application.
If you missed that deadline, you can still obtain one in-person by visiting the Ocean County Clerk’s main office, located at the Ocean County Courthouse, 118 Washington St. in Toms River, by 3 p.m. on Nov. 2.
One other important date is Oct. 21, when sample ballots will be mailed out. However, the most important before-election date of all has already passed. The deadline to register to vote was Oct. 13.
The No Kings rally isn’t just about publicizing early voting opportunities. As the press release from No Kings ended, its last line was “Opportunities to canvass after the rally will be available.” In other words, you could get really involved in the 2026 general election by manning a phone bank or knocking on doors.
