In a display of patriotism, generosity and community spirit, Four Seasons at Mirage in Barnegat recently celebrated America’s 250th anniversary by coming together to honor those who have served and continue to serve.

Spearheaded by Mirage homeowner Bruno Iamonte, the fundraising endeavor brought together the Men’s Club, Italian American Club, Women’s Club, Social Committee and Remembrance Committee. Through their combined efforts, enthusiastic participation and the generosity of Mirage residents, $17,662 was raised to benefit military charities.

Throughout the celebration, residents participated in special events, including “Bowl for Heroes” and “Walk for Heroes,” wearing commemorative 250th anniversary T-shirts. These activities were about much more than raising money. They were a celebration of community, camaraderie and a shared appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy because of the sacrifices of our military heroes.

The festivities culminated with a gala celebration featuring a cocktail hour in the clubhouse lounge and on the veranda before gathering in the ballroom for a tribute honoring each branch of the United States military. Following the salute, attendees danced the night away, celebrating both America’s historic milestone and the extraordinary spirit of Mirage.

Adding special meaning to the evening was the presence of one of Mirage’s own distinguished veterans, retired Command Sgt. Maj. Charles J. Thomas.

Five deserving organizations were selected to receive the proceeds: Wounded Warriors, Tunnel to Towers, Barnegat VFW, MSA Food Warriors, and the Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Foundation. Each organization supports veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families.

“As our nation commemorated 250 years of independence, we are reminded that freedom is not free,” said event coordinator Maggie Nordt. “It has been preserved through generations of courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to our country. The residents of Four Seasons at Mirage have every reason to be proud. What began as an idea grew into an extraordinary community effort that demonstrated what can be accomplished when people unite for a worthy cause. What better way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday than by giving back to those who have given so much for us?”
