The Melges 15 boat made its debut in the annual Down Bay Regatta on Aug. 14-15. In fact, it was the largest fleet of the invitational race, hosted by Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club in Beach Haven.
“It’s really exciting,” said Chris Fretz, one of the main advocates for the new class. “They’re easy boats to sail and they’re fast, which is fun. We’re hoping more people from other clubs start checking them out and bringing them to race.
