October marks the ninth anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, the most lethal and catastrophic hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, and the beginning of an era of new construction on Long Beach Island and its surrounding area.

That era came to a slowdown in the spring of 2021 as lumber prices jumped by triple percentages over the year before and supplies were hard to come by. However, as the summer season stretched beyond its peak, the cost of lumber began to return to a more normal price.
