If you love cheese, you’re likely to love “The Big Cheese,” a documentary being screened by the Lighthouse International Film Society, the year-round sister of the Lighthouse International Film Festival, on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The LIFS called “The Big Cheese” a “witty, warm and unexpectedly suspenseful documentary that follows a scrappy team of American cheesemongers taking on the world’s best at France’s prestigious Mondial du Fromage (nicknamed the Olympics of Cheese).” The New York Times calls it a ‘satisfying tender story.’”
Tender, eh? Are we talking a soft cheese?
The film will be screened at 7 p.m. at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies. However, you’ll want to be there by 6 p.m. because the evening’s festivities will begin then with a cheese-tasting reception. And after the screening, be sure to stick around because at 8:30 there will be a Q&A with Adam Moskowitz, the film’s executive producer. He’s also known as Mr. Moo – I won’t give away the reason.
Tickets are $16 online at lighthouseff.com and $20 at the door. LIF Society members need pay just $12. Advance reservations are strongly recommended.
A special thanks to the evening’s hosts, The Cheese Shoppe LBI and the LBI Foundation.
“An evening for film lovers, cheese lovers – and anyone who appreciates a great underdog story,” says the LIFS.
