With six boats representing Long Beach Island, Emily Haig and Zoe Fisher of Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club made the biggest splash of the Melges 15 Winter Series opener Jan. 7-8 in Jensen Beach, Fla. The LEHYC women were the victors at the front of a 70-boat fleet.
Haig, a former Southern Regional High School and MIT sailor, skippered the No. 19 Martin to first place in two of the six races, as the duo amassed 21 points to edge Pewaukee Yacht Club’s Jonathan Bailey and Suzanne Ackley.
