As a trial lawyer for 35 years, I know the cost and inefficiencies of trial practice, at least in New Jersey. Obviously, I have no firsthand knowledge as to why President Biden granted pardons, as mentioned in last week’s Commentary (”Pardon Who? Recent Actions Undermine Law and Order”), but have a reasonable guess as to at least one factor he probably considered: attorneys fees.
