Work to remove equipment and materials from the gateway to Long Beach Island, as part of winding down the final phase of the N.J. Department of Transportation’s Causeway expansion and rehab project until after Labor Day in Ship Bottom, isn’t expected to include full lane closures.

The DOT announced the decision to shutter the project July 13 after a tense summer in which Island officials, businesses, first responders and the public made their traffic safety concerns known in Trenton.
