The first-ever Paint Your Sole LBI 5-Mile Run on Sunday, May 4, took runners on a 1- or 5-mile circuit that began and ended at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies. The 5-miler went to Barnegat Lighthouse and back. Spectators paid $5 per bottle to be ‘throwers.’ Some of the most colorful characters were those who had gone all out with their running attire, as encouraged. Who doesn’t love a good blast of non-toxic pigment?
