Last week, a group of Long Beach Island Consolidated School District students got a chance to ride in a police car. Not because they were in trouble, but because their parents were winners of a PTA raffle held earlier this year.
“Each year, the PTA holds a fundraiser where the police chiefs and police departments escort the winners’ kids to school,” said Frank Birney, principal of the Ethel Jacobsen Elementary School in Surf City.
