This winter, the Southern Regional High School Fishing Club ended up a big winner thanks to a donation of $550 from one of the annual Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Classic’s top anglers.
Bill Tyson secured the striped bass grand prize of $500 with a 13.5-pound striper caught in North Beach Haven, as well as a daily bass first prize of $50, and decided to give the funds to the student anglers, he said, “to recognize the team for their accomplishments and in a small way help the club to enjoy continued success.”
