The Long Beach Island Elementary School ushered in autumn last week with the help of Fairgrown Farms co-owner James Klett, who traveled to Surf City from Pennington along with 400 pounds of apples. Grades prekindergarten through sixth took part in the farm-to-school event highlighted by Farmer James’ apple cider press demonstration.

Klett chopped, mashed and pressed two different varieties of apple “for a hands-on demo of how fresh apple cider is created,” said school nurse Bianca Aniski.
