Unannounced lane closures greeted some morning commuters to Long Beach Island last week with gridlock conditions during what is expected to be the final stretch of the N.J. Department of Transportation’s multi-year Causeway expansion and rehabilitation project in Ship Bottom and Stafford Township.
It is unclear whether the lane closure on Route 72 East was a planned part of the final phase of the Causeway work or unexpected work.
