In May 2023, when Barnegat Light’s only mini golf course changed hands, the new owners announced, “Jen’s Links is here to stay!” Three and a half years later, the now-shuttered Jen’s Links at Lighthouse Cove has sold for $6.3 million to a real estate developer who plans to put a handful of homes there.

The Fair Haven-based listing agent, William Kilbride, confirmed on social media the plan is five to seven houses, subject to municipal approvals and zoning. The 1.18-acre property is located in the borough’s general business/marine commercial zone, with a mixed zoning classification of commercial, residential and single-family.

Blessed Roots Wellness of Ship Bottom has announced a new initiative to reach women in perimenopause with the principles of Chinese medicine.

Owner and acupuncturist-herbalist Taryn Parascand said the idea grew out of “so much chatter around perimenopause right now”: talk of hormones, supplements, diets, symptom management, what to take and avoid, what’s “normal” or needs to be fixed.

She has created a space to cut through the noise and look at perimenopause through the lens of Eastern traditions.

“I’m calling it the TCM Perimenopause Method,” she said. Participants will explore symptoms; “learn practical tools using food, herbs, acupressure, qigong, lifestyle practices and other holistic approaches; and ask questions, share experiences, celebrate wins and navigate this stage alongside other women.”

Founding members get first access and a fixed discounted rate. They will help guide the direction of the group’s discussions and what is taught, based on the questions and challenges raised.

“We’ll talk about what women are actually experiencing, including hot flashes, sleep changes, irritability, low energy, libido changes, digestion, changing cycles, and simply not feeling like yourself.”

Pyour Core instructors want to teach every body. At the Pilates and fitness studio, located in Ship Bottom and Tinton Falls, enroll now in a teacher training program set to begin in January 2027. The Intensive Mat and Reformer program was designed by veteran Pilates educator and Pyour Core founder Carolayn Crane. It is two courses for people who want skill and confidence to teach real clients with real bodies.

Half the classes will be up north and half will be on LBI, according to Crane.

“It’s going to include modifications. You are going to learn so much. It has a very strong anatomy base, like no other,” she said.

The mat course combines eight intensive in-person days (56 contact hours) with self-practice, observation, supervised teaching and a 60-hour mentored apprenticeship with real clients, for 320 hours in total. Trainees learn all 34 of Joseph Pilates’ classical mat exercises alongside contemporary principles, postural analysis, cueing and class programming.

Crane brings more than 30 years in the fitness industry, with advanced training in neurological conditions, brain injury and stroke. Graduates leave ready to adapt Pilates safely for injury, pregnancy, osteoporosis, joint replacement and more.

Mat graduates continue to the five-day reformer course.

“Anyone can memorize exercises,” said Crane. “Great teachers understand bodies. Our graduates know how to see a client, adapt in the moment and keep every person safe and progressing. That’s what this training is built to deliver.”

The textbooks were written by Crane, with contributing author Jennifer Edwards, and reviewed by several physical therapists, chiropractor and various master and Pilates trainers.
