A newcomer to the LBI Artist Studio Tour this year (the weekend of Aug. 8 and 9) is painter Jennifer Malone of Harvey Cedars and Maplewood.

After raising her two now-adult children, painting became her primary occupation and now she works primarily in oils and dabbles in gauche and watercolor, she said, in a space carved out at home for her and her work, for which she is grateful.

Her introduction to art was as “an avid appreciator,” she said.
