On the 1-10 severity scale, I give the so-named “October Nor’easter” a respectable 6 in the end. That’s up from an initial 5 rating I gave early Monday, before the more-serious street flooding set in.

The Island’s south end, as usual, was hardest hit. At one high tide point, Beach Haven was temporarily wiped off the map, as all southbound Boulevard traffic was stopped in Ship Bottom. A digital sign told southbound motorists to “Turn Around!” That was a new one on me.
